THE BENJI PROJECT
The journey of the CDRS Benji Project for Animal Welfare & Rescue has been marked by remarkable achievements that have revolutionized the landscape of animal welfare across the nation. We introduced the first-ever facility dedicated to TNVR (Trap, Neuter, Vaccinate, Release) for stray dogs and cats in Pakistan, situated in Gulberg Greens, Islamabad. The Benji Project has made history by deploying Pakistan's first fleet of Animal Ambulances, comprising a total of 8 vehicles strategically stationed in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Charsadda, and Skardu. This innovative service ensures swift and compassionate aid to animals in need.

OUR FACILITY
We have already made a significant impact by aiding more than 40,000 animals – a testament to our commitment to making a real difference in their lives. This spirit of compassion extends beyond our own initiatives as we actively contribute to the cause by funding multiple shelters and rescuers across Pakistan. In fact, over half of our funds have been channeled toward supporting independent shelters and rescuers for the welfare of abandoned animals. Additionally, we are also making efforts to sign formal agreements with district governments and housing societies, effectively curbing the practice of dog killings, and leading the implementation of TNVR. One such notable collaboration exists in Skardu, where we've partnered with the district government to champion this cause. Another agreement with IBECHS in Gulberg Greens, focuses on shared responsibility in funding TNVR costs, fostering a harmonious partnership for change. Our multiple shelters operating in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, and Skardu exemplify our dedication and compassion toward animals.
OUR 3 MAIN OBJECTIVES
Across the CDRS Benji Shelters we focus on 3 main objects, but alongside these we also provide assistance and rescue services to the rescue community in each location. We believe in empowering each individual and educating others to join our collective cause.
01.
ANIMAL RESCUE
Through reports on our social media pages our team rescues injured, abused, orphaned and abandoned animals from the streets and brings them to our facility for medical treatment where we have a fully functional clinic with an experienced team of vets.
Our shelter manager, vets & staff work tirelessly to save every animal that comes in by ensuring they are given proper medical treatment, good nutrition and bundles of love to encourage them to heal.
02.
TNVR SERVICES
TNVR (trap, neuter, vaccinate, release) is an effective, scientifically proven, environmentally safe, and Islamically permissible method of controlling the population of stray animals.
Our team captures the animals and bring them to our facility where they are quarantined for a few days, to ensure they won’t pass any disease to others. Then our team of professional veterinarians neuters or spays them and nurses them back to health.
This follows anti-rabies shots, and then the dogs are released back in the area they know of as home.
03.
EDUCATION & EMPOWERMENT
With our network around the country within our organization and fellow shelters and rescuers, we empower others doing the same work, to continue their operations through financial help and support. Together our focus is on working together to increase awareness for the plight of animals across the nation.
